by | Jan 13, 2025 | Knowledge

A trade show is the place to present your company, generate leads and make valuable connections with people interested in your industry. But of course you are not the only company there, there are many other industry peers, with whom your products or services may overlap. With so many other companies, how do you make sure your booth stands out and attracts guests? We share some tips for creating an impactful trade show booth. Because impact doesn't start at the trade show, but weeks before with the design of your booth.

Stick to your brand identity

We've discussed it before, but showing off your brand identity is hugely important. Whether you're hosting your own event or exhibiting at a trade show, guests should be able to recognize your company. So choose a theme that reflects your brand identity. This ensures a strong first impression that is consistent with your brand. Think colors, shapes and materials that match your branding. Is your brand innovative? Choose a futuristic look, for example. Do you want to create an inviting, living room atmosphere? Work with warm tones and create seating areas. By choosing a theme and staying close to your brand identity, you create association with your brand for visitors and create a cohesive look, which in turn creates a calm and inviting atmosphere.

Stand out in the crowd

Trade shows are crowded, there are many other companies, and as a visitor you are often overwhelmed by all the trade show booths. As a company, you want to stand out. Make sure your booth literally and figuratively stands out. Think for example of eye-catching lighting, displays or creative decorations. A large and eye-catching element, such as a product model or an LED screen with the right content, in front of which you may also hold a demonstration, can attract the attention of visitors.

Experiencing, not just watching

Visitors don't just want to look, they want to experience. So it's a good idea to add an interactive element to your trade show booth. This attracts visitors to your booth, but also keeps them there longer. For example, use live demos to immediately show a visitor how your products or services work and let them try it out for themselves. Provide entertainment by hiring a cocktail shaker or handing out nice fresh syrup waffles, for example. But also consider comfort and practical solutions. Visitors walk around all day at a trade show, so make sure you have a comfortable seat where someone can rest while you have a conversation. Or for example, a charging station to charge a phone can take a lot of stress away from visitors.

Proactive and knowledgeable

Once you have attracted visitors to your exhibition stand, it is of course also very important to retain them and convince them of your products. An impressive exhibition stand is therefore nothing without a good team. Visitors need to feel that they are welcome and that you are interested in them. So make sure your team is proactive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Don't let a visitor leave your booth without having spoken to someone from your team. Also nice is to have your team walk around in branded clothing. Should they make a tour of the trade show, it will immediately be noticed which company they belong to and it looks nice on your trade show booth.

The follow-up

Perhaps most important of all is the follow-up. An impactful trade show booth doesn't stop at the event itself. Make sure you follow up with leads and connections after the trade show. Make the connection on LinkedIn, send them an email with a special offer or send them a small thank you. Create your own opportunity to further build your relationship. Good follow-up will ensure that your efforts at the trade show produce long-term results.

For your trade show booth, choose the elements that fit into the square footage you have selected and be creative with the space you have. With these elements, ensure that you make an impression on the trade show floor, but also ensure that your brand sticks in the minds of your visitors by following up. With a combination of eye-catching design, interaction and a strong team, your trade show booth will be a success.
